When the 718 GT4 and Boxster Spyder were released, Porsche appealed to their purist following by providing the cars with a manual only option. However, for the 2021 model year, Porsche is providing a PDK option. They haven’t released performance figures yet but the 718 GT4 and Spyder have a 0-60 time of 3.8 seconds but you can expect a significant improvement with the PDK transmission.

Porsche produced the 718 with a turbocharged Flat 4 in order to have a larger gap between their entry level sports car and the 911, but with the new PDK option on the GT4 and the Spyder, we can expect to see lap times near or even better than the 911 Carrera. The base 911 has 379 horsepower so there are no doubts the GT4 can outperform the 911.

For the 2021 model year, the 718 comes standard with Apple CarPlay, dual zone climate control, heated front seats, auto dimming mirrors, and xenon headlights. The price for the 2021 model year with these options as standard are $61,250 for the Cayman and $63,350 for the Boxster. Prices for the rest of the 718 models such as the T, S, GTS 4.0, and GT4/Spyder models haven’t been revealed yet.

Here in Los Angeles, Cayman GT4s are fairly common on the streets, so the new PDK option should be fairly popular with Los Angeles owners due to the classic LA traffic. Would you purchase a 718 with the more entertaining 6 speed manual option, or the more convenient PDK? Let us know in the comments!
